Blown-In Insulation

What Is Blown-In Insulation?

Loose fill insulation, also known as blown-in insulation, can be blown inside of existing walls or applied in attics. In an attic with limited space, installing blown-in insulation is ideal, as not enough space is available to install fiberglass batts. Existing walls are filled with blown-in insulation by drilling a hole one foot below the ceiling and three feet above the floor and filling the wall with an insulation blower. Once the walls are filled with blown-in insulation, the holes are closed by plastic plugs.

Why Install Blown-In Insulation?

One benefit of blown-in insulation is a fast installation time. Blown-in insulation is available as cellulose, fiberglass, and rockwool. In just a couple of hours, loose fill insulation can be blown into an attic, providing a customer with a fast insulation solution. Once the loose fill insulation settles, cold air is blocked from entering the home.
